Normally, my writing for D.F.A. or Please Do! focuses on the intersection of money, investing, and culture. Sometimes, though, there are rock bands that embody all of that. When you think “rock star,” one of the first images that likely comes to mind is Queen’s Freddie Mercury.
Some of my biggest childhood memories are driving up and down the Long Island Expressway, from Rocky Point to New York City and back, with the one cassette we had in the car—Queen’s Greatest Hits. We never bothered to get another, probably because this one was so durable and timeless.
I remember lying on the living room floor as a seven-year-old, watching Queen perform at Live Aid, completely blown away.
